We are happy to share a new milestone in phenotyping workflows by integrating the DJI Dock-II into our Plant-Analyzer web interface for digital phenotyping and crop monitoring. This innovative advancement brings us closer to achieving fully automated, large-scale disease scoring and monitoring in agriculture.
Fully Automated, Large-Scale Disease Scoring in Sugar Beets
This summer, we conducted daily flights over two locations in southern Germany—areas that are logistically challenging to access but vital for disease monitoring. Over two months, we collected ultra-high-resolution data (Ground Sampling Distance below one millimeter) across 9 hectares of breeding trials through day-to-day flight operations.
This exceptional detail enables precise scouting and scoring of diseases in sugar beets and allows for dynamic assessment of their spread across different locations and varieties. The integration of high-resolution data collection with our Plant-Analyzer platform marks a significant leap forward in crop monitoring and disease management.
Fully Autonomous Drone Operations
By leveraging the DJI Dock-II’s autonomous drone capabilities and our dedicated flight planning tailored explicitly for micro-plots, we achieved:
👉 Automated Field Monitoring: Seamless data collection without human intervention, enhancing efficiency and safety.
👉 Optimized Data Acquisition: Our specialized flight planning maximizes data quality from micro-plots, extracting the most from the data even though the drone’s camera is comparable to the well-known Mavic 3E/3M.
👉 Accessible Technology: Comparable measurements are possible with us even without the container setup, making high-quality phenotyping accessible to more users.
👉 AI-Driven Disease Analysis: Rapid identification and scoring of diseases using advanced algorithms integrated within the Plant-Analyzer platform.
👉 Near Real-Time Insights: Immediate visualization of disease spread and plant health, enabling timely decision-making and intervention.
By placing significant emphasis on our specialized flight planning, we’ve unlocked the full potential of the data, ensuring exceptional results even with standard drone cameras.
Strengthening Partnerships for Innovation
Pioneering projects like this accelerate the implementation of new technologies in agriculture. Our collaboration with industry leaders such as Strube D&S GmbH and U-ROB has brought this innovative solution to life, paving the way for a successful proof of concept (POC).
We value our cooperation with both Strube and U-ROB, whose willingness to pioneer these integrations has been crucial. Their commitment and expertise have been important in making this technology adoption practical and effective in real-world applications.
